The Summer after Freshman Year, Returned to China to Study ancient Chinese and Was Amazed at How Much Had Changed I Had Left the Country in 1999.

From Banking to Acting

AFTER Graduation, Applied for Jobs in New York and Got Hirhed As An Investment Banking Analyst.

One of My by professors, a close mentor, told me about a master’s program at the shanghai theater academy.

BACK THEN, Foreign Actors HAD EASIER OPPORTUNITIES; post-Covid, The Process is Far More Bureaucratic.

Moving to China was the right Choice. Here, i’ve come up with a way to maintain financial stability while pursue my passion.

These days, Most of My Incoming Comes from College Counseling, though i still take on the occisional commercial or voice-acting gig.

That stability has gioven with the freedom to be creative with the worrying about Making ends meet. In the us, i’d probably be a starving artist waiting tables, but sometimes I Earn Enough to Focus on My Passion, which has now expanded to include scriptwriting.

I’m Currently Writing a Solo Theater Show About My Mother. Like Many Asian Daughters, i’ve Had a complicated Relationship with her, but but i have the suport System here to bring the show to life.

My dad suported my move initially, but he expects i’d come back after gradation. Be i didn’t, he told me didn’t understand my decision. AFTER RECENT US POLITICAL SHIFTS, he stopped trying to convince with them return.

I Still Go Back Once a Year. I Feel American when i’m there. But the longer of stay in china, the most feed Like Home.
