In the midst of the rumors of his death, representatives of self -proclaimed Godman Nithyananda, an absolute refugee accused of sexual abuse, declared on April 1 that he was “alive, safe and active”. Rumors about the death of Nithyananda emerged after his cousin, Sundereshwar, allegedly claimed the refugee had died. The statement was released by Kailasa: “Kailasa condemns this malicious smear campaign unequivocally to destroy and slander the SPH …” the statement reads. To support their allegation, the press release also included a direct stream link in which Nithyananda participates in the Ugadi celebrations on March 30. Who is Nithyananda? Self -proclaimed Godman Nithyananda established his own country named the United States of Kailasa (USK). He was accused of rape and kidnapping and fled from India in 2019 and appeared again a year later, claiming to have founded his country. Nithyananda bought an island from Ecuador’s coast and called it Kailasa. In 2020, Nithyananda’s bail was revoked after Lenin filed a petition in which he emphasized that the Godman had fled the land. Additional allegations against him include torture and child abuse at his ashram in Gujarat. In 2023, TNM reported that Interpol denied that he had issued a blue corner notice against Nithyananda. This denial comes following the claims of Gujarat police, who said such a notice was issued to collect more information about Nithyananda’s identity, location or activities regarding alleged crimes. Interpol’s general secretariat issued two letters that contradict these claims. What is Kailasa? Kailasa is a self-proclaimed land on an island on the coast of Ecuador, named after a holy Hindu site. It claims to be a movement established by members of the Hindu Adi Shaavite minority community from Canada, the United States and other countries, which provide refuge for practicing, aspiring or persecuted Hindus worldwide. Kailasa unequivocally condemns this malicious smear campaign to destroy and blaspheme … Kailasa is not recognized as a sovereign nation by the United Nations or the World Community and is considered a micronation. Nevertheless, the Kailasa movement maintains a prominent presence on social media and claims to operate different departments, including treasury, trade, sovereignty, housing and human services.
