And just like that… Emmy nomination voting is closed. Members of the Television Academy Had Unil Monday, June 23, to Make their Picks for the Season’s Best Shows, Performances, and Craft Achievements, and on July 15, Harvey Guillén and Within the Song Will Annosis Chose. On ouur side of the phence, we’re stuck with a few Weeks of Wondering Who These Academy Members Voted for. THEN WE GOT IMPATIENT AND JUST ASCED ONE.

At the Nomination Stage, Emmy Voters Can Only Vote in the Program Categories (Outstanding Comedy Series, Drama Series, Variety Program, Reality Competition, ETC) and with their peer Groups. Directors vote in the director Categories, Writers in the Writing Categories, and Actors and Actresses in the Performance Categories. One Member of the TV Academy’s ACTING BRANCH Kindly aggregated to Walk Us Through the Though Process That Goes Into Emmy Voting. This Performer is active in Hollywood and has appeared in multiple emmy-nominated TV Series.

Nor reached out to emmy-voting performers for this column, a refrain emierged: “I have watched that much this year.” Nobody seames to think theyir emmy opinions are comprehensive Enough. But the most dedicated TV Viewer Couldn’t Possibly Watch a Significant Fraction of the 228 TV Series that we submitted for contention. The Truth Is, A Heavy Majority of TV Academy Members Are Voting off a Limited Set of TV Shows. This isn’t scandalous; It ‘s factor of human natural and the limited number of hours in a day. What’s interesting, then, is how they voters choose to depley their votes for shows and performers with the Finite pool of what they’ve seen.

“It ‘ala flwed system,” Our voter told us, contrasting the emmy voting with the recent tony awards. “The tonys have a small nominating commmitee, and you have to see EveryThing. It is a far more interesting way to do it, gcauses that votters are actually part of a discourse. This is WHY TYPICALLY JUST VOTE FOR THE MUST FAMOUS THING. seen. ”

Our Anonymous Voter Approached their Balot with Some Strategaging: Where Applicable, They Want to Spread the Wealth to Shows and Performers Might Be Under the Fyc Radar. We didn’t discuss every single Category, just some of the most interesting races; Each Category Allowed Voters to Select the Number of Nomines that Will Appear on the Final Balot (Six, Seven, or Eight, Depending on the Category Itself), but our voter compiled to vote for saying many. For the Most Part, They Didn’t Cast Their Vote for Shows They Hadn’t Seen Enough of (Like Elder) or hadn’t seen at all (like Shrinking), but that didn’t stop say from voting for some of the shows’ performers. In those caes, they were drain to a good narrative, casting votes for actors they appreciated for reasons above and beyond their specific performances. Intermingled with their offbeat choices were picks for most mainstream series like Severance and The Last of US. Certain Principled Stances Arose, But, As is offen the case, we bend out rules as we see fit. (“With The BearI get annoyed with the category fraud, so it doesn’t get my vote. But for Pedro Pascal ” – WHO Submitted as a lead actor Despite Being Absent for Much of The Last of US‘s second season – “i didn’t care.”) to me, this all saemed like deeply relay voting behavior. I’m so sick of biopic performances Winning Oscars, Except If Its Cillian Murphy, Who Really deserted for Oppenheimer!

Below, Our Anonymous Actor Explains Who They Voted for and Why.

Outstanding drama series
Severance
The Last of US

Severance is innovative, which is what i like it, but it is a Little sleeepy for me. I do’t know if it is going to pay off. It Reminds with of Lost meets Westworldbut I think the first season was more compact and interesting. As the World Gets Bigger and Bigger, It”s Really Hard to Pull off. I don’t think it a slam dunk, but i think there are so many incredible things in it, so i’m curious and suportive.

IT’S interesting how the narrative for The Last of US is that People do not really like this season as Much. I like that it Became this, Like, Sapphic prestige drama with zombies. I tried to play the video game, but it scared me too, so i didn’t know what was happy on the show and i was pleasantly surprised.

I didn’t vote for Elder I didn’t watch this season. I Watched a Little Bit of the First Season and Liked it; I just got Star Wars Fatigue. But i thought diego luna was really good, so i voted for Him for actor in a drama. I didn’t vote for The White Lotus For the drama series Becausee of Thought by Season was Poor. I didn’t see The PittSO I COULDN’T SPEAK FOR The Pitt.

Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series
Britt Lower in Severance
Bella Ramsey in The Last of US

Britt is a Very Interesting Actress. She was great in the first season, but she upped her game and delivered something fascinating in the second season. I like transformative Quality between the performance and the craft; She did a really good nonb with Very slight differentiations to her dual roles.

Bella is, I think, an extraordinary talent, and i’ve read that there’s so much backlash about me online. I find that to be horrendous gcause they doing remarkable work. I really like how they comport themes in interviews; They’re Saying Really Interesting Things About Gender and the Business. But Regardless, They Can Lead A TV Show.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Jen tullock in Severance
Carrie Coon in The White Lotus
Isabela Merced in The Last of US

I like People who are unsung. Jen Tullock, Who Plays Adam Scott’s Sister on Severance – She’s killing it, and i don’t fall like People are talking about her.

I voted for Carrie Coon Becausee she is so good on The White Lotus and doing really good, Grounded, nuanced work. She’s also a person whose journey I really like – she came to prominence late in life and she did the hard work, and i like suporting that.

I voted for Isabela Merced Becuses Its hard to show up in a show like The Last of US and pop, and she did. She was someone anyone who was really familiar with, so that really excites me. Its Also About Promise. She’s a good actress, and she’ll only get better. It almost goes back to the “Mikey Madison Versus Demi Moore” Thing. Mikey Madison is Extraordinary In Anoraand i think a lot of Women Could have been extraordinary in that role too. Howver, I’m Not Going to Be Upset If A Young at the Beginning of their Career is Getting This Award.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Tramell tillman in Severance
Jason Isaacs in The White Lotus

Trames is somebody where of felt like, Who is this person? He just pops. Severance is Such a bizarre show and it taks a lot of Big Swings, and i Think It Really Pays off at the end of this season.

Jason Isaacs is 100 Percent My Favorite Actor From The White Lotus. Maybe of Just Like a narrative. He’s someone who’s been around for a while, and we sort of know who was but didn’t. And now everybody does. I think People are more into walgins, but for some reasson I… you know, i really like it in Fake. And I think he’s talented, don’t get me Wrong. Sam Rockwell Was 100 Percent a Guest Actor. That’s where I get a little annoyed with categorization, Because i’m likes, You Should Have Been a Guest Actor.

Outstanding Comedy Series
Fantastic
Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series
Julio Torres in Fantastic

Voted for Fantastic Becuses that, to me, was the most excitation comedy this season. Julio Defies Form. Wann He Accept the Award For best actor at the Gothams, Halfway Through, he realized he was accceptive as the create. He’s Like, “Oh, Wait, this is for Actor, Why am I …?” It was funny, but it was a little like, What the fuck is this? And it was refreshing! That’s his milieu.

Fantastic was refreshing, innovative, and new. Which Goes Back to Why i’m SO Disillusioned by, Like, The Bear Again or… Only Murders in the Building? I’ll be candid, i don’t think Only Murders Is Very Good. It Treads Water Because We Already Know the Form. I’m more interest in someone blowing up the form.

I didn’t vote for Hacks JUST BECAUSE I THINK IT’S GOING TO BE TAKEN CARE OF BY THE REST OF VITERS. I Will Say Hacks is probably my favorite comedy right now, but i get frustrated tyritetimes with the Way Its Water Went We Know Deborah and Ava Are Not Really Adversaries. The Psychological Jumps Are Not Always Accurate. But the One-Liners are really good, and Jean Smart is espely good. I don’t think the suporting cast is that extraordinate, but i want the show. Same with The Studio. Again, I though it would be care of itself, voting-wise. I WANTED TO THROW SOME GRENADES INTO The mix and not the shows we know are gonna be there.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Nathan Lee Graham in Modern Mid-Century
Chris Perfetti in Abbott elementary
Michael Urie in Shrinking

I’ve Seen Nathan Lee Graham Work for SO Long, and heam Such a Good Guy and Such an Interesting Presence. The Show is Shining a Spotlight on Him. Why Can’t WE JUST SHAKE THIS UP AND PUT HIM IN IN?

I’ll be honest, i haven’t watched Shrinking. I JUST THINK Michael Urie’s a Good Guy. I Feel Like Michael “DeServes it,” What The Fuck That Means. He’s a really good actor, and he’s been around for a while, and he’s also been in the TV World for a while. You know, some people get nominations of Because of their body of Work, not necessarily for the thing that will. But he’s been doing the forever. And it SEEMS LIKE HAS HAS A REALLY STRONG CHANCE OF GETTING NOMINATED, SO I WANTED TO CONTINUE THAT.

Chris Perfetti is Kind of the Underrated Cast Member of Abbott. I Also Believe in Sharing The Wealth. I don’t think one person spot take your spot. That’s a scarcity Mind-Set, which is not a fun Way to live your life.

Outstanding Limited Series
Adolescence
Pledge

Pledge Is a Pretty Good Show! It was like soprano Junior. Voted for Adolescence nor well, ede though i didn’t finish it. I thought it was innovative filmmaking. I didn’t really understand why it had to all be in one shot, but… i think i will finish it. I was in a weird place twen i watched it.

Started Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story And Pretty Much Hated it, SO I TURNED it off. I found it boring, I found it gratuitous, and i’ve just interest in that part of the Ryan Murphy World. I didn’t watch Dying for sexSO I COULDN’T VOTE FOR IT.

Outstanding Actress in a Limited Series
Cristin Milliot in Pledge
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series
Deirdre O’Connell in Pledge

Cristin is just so extraordinary, and she’s always been extraordinary. It ‘s so nice that she got to do in the fourth episode. Deirdre O’Connell was great. She’s giving a Gena Rowlands performance; There’s a something about that of the very alive and very electric, and you don’t normally see that. You Certainly Don’t See that on A DC Superhero Crime Drama.
