(Adds Comments from Attorney and Father, details from the court paragraphs 2-4, 6-9) by Rollo Ross and Lisa Richwine Los Angeles, August 25 (Reuters)-Grammy-winning musician Lil Nas X on Monday pleaded not guilty to four criminal charges after police had approached officers in his undergo. A judge set bail at $ 75,000 and said the rapper “Old Town Road” should attend an outpatient drug rehabilitation program. According to police, they believed that Lil Nas X was using drugs at the time of the incident. However, his lawyer, Christy O’Connor, said there was no evidence of drug use by the 26-year-old. “It’s just a deviant episode in an otherwise productive life,” she said. The musician has been charged with three counts of the battery of a police officer and one score to oppose an officer. He appeared in court in the Blue Prison clothing and replied ‘yes’ when asked if he understood the bail conditions. Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was the first openly gay man who received a Country Music Association Award and won for his 2018 hit “Old Town Road.” He also earned two Grammys for the song. His father, Robert Stafford, told reporters outside the Rechts Building that the singer was ‘very remorseful about what had happened’. “He’s going to get the help he needs,” Stafford said. “Just keep him in your prayers.” (Reporting by Rollo Ross and Lisa Richwine; Editing by Leslie Adler, Lisa Shumaker and Cynthia Osterman)
