‘The Last of US’ Season 2 Hit With Fan Backlash Over Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby – ryan

The Last of US Made its long-awaited return to hbo last night, and the online discourse has already begun around around Kaitlyn Dever‘s Character or Abby. Debuting in the sequel to the hit video game in 2020, Abby is a soldier seeking vengeance for a loved one, and as such, she’s pretty ripped. She has large, defined muscles, and is known for being able to kick some serious butt. Dever is noticeably smaller than her, and fans are calling into question the Casting Choice after Viewing Episode 1, “Future Days.”

Much of the chatter on x today surrounding The Last of US Season 2 has to do with the cosmetic change, with user @theemagda Asking, “How tf are you gonna cast the role of abby Anderson for the last of us and not cast ab *** h with arms built like a mack truck ??” User @girl_lestat adds:

“Abby not being built like a refrigerator is not sitting right with me and that’s all I have to say about the last of us at this present moment.”

‘The Last of US’ Season 2 Premiere Was Not What I Expected, But Those Big Changes Made Sense

Fans may be surprised to see ‘the last of us’ drop one of the game’s massive structural gambits. But in hindsight, it feels inevitable.

User @evansane_ tried to defuse things in their post, saying, “Remember guys. Abby is a fake character, Kaitlyn Dever is an actress,” but @khomatose was having none of it: “I don’t like the abby casting in The Last of US Season 2. They could have got someone to bulk up bro. “Many others echoed those same sentiments, with @daynabreezy adding their two cents to the discussion:

“I’m sure the actress playing abby in the last of us is great but something about not casting an actress with f *** around and find out arms is v disappointing to me.”

‘The Last of US’ Showrunner Explains the Change in Abby’s appearance

If fans continue to voice their disappointment with abby’s appearance in The Last of US Season 2, Co-Showrunner Craig Mazin discussed with gamerradar+ what the thinking was behind the change. He revealed an early conversation he had with Neil Druckmann about why Abby was so different from Ellie in the game in the first place:

“One of the things that we talked about early on when casting abby was the physicality of the character. Obviously in the game she’s physically really strong. She’s so muscular. And I asked Neil,” Why? ” Have a contrast of the mechanism of play itself. not Joel. “”

This isnt a video game, though, and people aren’t actively taking control of the character of abby when they are watching The Last of US. Therefore, for Mazin, her physicality was not something he felt was “essential” to her character in the show. If He put it: “There is no gameplay; there is merely observation.”

We are sure the the-hard fans won’t be happy with that answer, and the discourse will continue as the season progresses. People Hate Change, especially when it comes to a character’s appearance. Now that episode 1 is out there, it will be interesting to see what other things fans find to complain about online, as this is undoubtedly just the start of things to come. You can check out The Last of US Season 2 streaming now on max, with episodes released weekly until its conclusion on May 25.
