Apple Inc. created an iPhone application in Chatgpt style to support the development of a major review of his voting assistant, Siri, expected to be next year, according to the sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reports. Veritas: Internal test instrument The app, reportedly known internally as Veritas-Latin for ‘Truth’-Laat Apple employees to test new AI-powered features for Siri more efficiently. It is designed to handle tasks such as looking for personal data, including email and music, and performing in-app actions such as editing of photos. Although it is currently only for internal use, the app is an important step in Apple’s pressure to renovate its voting assistant, the report states. According to the report, Veritas mimics popular chatbot formats, which enable multiple continuous conversations, stores and refers to chats in the past and supporting extensive back and forth interactions. It is built on Apple’s new underlying system, Linwood, which combines the company’s own major language models with third-party-ai providers technology. Siri’s delayed launch The report noted that the updated Siri was already released in March, after previous delays caused by technical problems that allegedly led to functions failing about a third of the time. A successful implementation can strengthen Apple’s position in the competitive AI landscape, while deficiencies are at risk of continuing competitors such as Google and Samsung Electronics. Competition over AI capabilities is expected to increase in the coming year, affecting smartphones purchase decisions. Despite this, Apple avoided emphasizing the internal AI advance when it unveiled the iPhone 17 earlier this month. Apple also investigated partnerships with large AI developers. Earlier conversations with Openai and Anthropic were followed by advanced discussions with Google about the deployment of a custom version of its Gemini AI platform. Internally, the company restructured its AI strategy, including the departure of the AI chief, John Giannandrea and some delegates, and the upcoming exit of Robby Walker, who oversaw Siri to the delays. Walker’s former team, now focused on AI-based search functions, is central to the development of the upgraded assistant. Besides Siri: AI in other devices outside Siri, Apple is allegedly working on AI-powered improvements for its Homeepod speakers, Apple TV and web search functionality. CEO Tim Cook named AI ‘the largest transformation in decades’ and emphasizes the need for Apple to become a leader in the field. The Veritas app, although not intended for public release, gives Apple a test ground to evaluate how AI-driven conversations can improve device navigation and user interaction, which paves the way for a more intelligent, responsive Siri interface.
