Apple Vision Pro 2 in the Works while providers sharpen component manufacturing: Report | Mint
Apple’s ambitious spatial computer business seems to be far from over, as fresh reports indicate that the second -generation Vision Pro quietly entered the production. This development comes despite earlier speculation that Apple has stopped the project due to the underworing sales of the original headset. According to a report from Ithome, with reference to unnamed operating resources, key components for the new Vision Pro are already produced. Suppliers such as loen technology, responsible for the glass panels of the headset, and the change of precision, which make its outer shells, are reportedly in a hurry to meet orders. The supply chain also contains different manufacturers of electronic circuit components, which indicate a larger ramp in preparations. The original Vision Pro is priced for its intuitive interface and seamless user experience, which requires minimal learning compared to other mixed reality heads on the market. However, high prices and limited survey of consumers have led the production of the device to stop in early 2024, Gadgets360 reports. At the time, reports also suggested that the technical giant informed the development of future models. Now, with the production of key components going on, there is a renewed speculation that Apple can reveal the Vision Pro 2 in this year. Some insiders believe the new model can reuse elements of its predecessor, including a newer slide set – possibly the upcoming M5. This move can lower the cost and allow Apple to offer the device at a more accessible price point. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg previously reported that a new Vision Pro device could be launched by the fall 2025 or early 2026. It is now thought that the model currently in production is an interim version, designed to retain interest in Apple’s spatial computer platform while developing a more advanced successor. Whether it turns the tide for Apple into the mixed reality space has yet to be seen, but the Vision Pro story is clearly not over yet.
