It’s too big if you’re young. It’s too little if you’re trying to retire.

A better one that I came up with works on the fact that money compounds.

It’s: [2^((Age-20)/10) – 1] × Income

So if I’m 27 years and 9 months (27.75 years old) old it would be:

(2^0.775 – 1) x Income = 0.71 x Income

When you’re 67 this would be 25x Income which follows general retirement advice
