Attorney General's office doesn't mind Sandra Dewi suing to get back her luxury bag and car
Jakarta – Artist Sandra Dewi has filed a lawsuit that basically asks for the return of her luxury bags and the car she gave her husband, Harvey Moeis, as a birthday present. The Office of the Attorney General (Kejagung) said the lawsuit can be filed and is regulated by law. “What is clear is that for third parties who have good intentions, please submit it, it is regulated in section 19 of the corruption law,” the head of the office of the attorney general, Anang Supriatna, said on Monday (20/10/2025) when asked for confirmation. Anang said the prosecutor would answer Sandra’s objections regarding the confiscation of assets deemed to be related to the tin management corruption case. He said the attorney general’s office would respect the court’s decision. Previously, Sandra Dewi, who is also the wife of the convict in the tin management corruption case, Harvey Moeis, filed an objection at the Central Jakarta District Court. The objection related to the confiscation of a number of his property and assets in the case involving Harvey. “It is true, a hearing is currently underway to object to the confiscation of assets filed by Sandra Dewi in the Harvey Moeis (her husband) corruption case,” Central Jakarta District Court spokesperson Sunoto told reporters on Monday (10/20). The petitioners in objection number 7/PID.SUS/KEBERATAN/TPK/2025/PN.Jkt.Pst are Sandra Dewi, Kartika Dewi and Raymon Gunawan. Meanwhile, the respondent is a public prosecutor at the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office. “The purpose of the objection is for the Petitioner to request the return of assets confiscated by the state,” he said. Sandra’s excuse for this objection is that as a third party with good intentions, the assets were legally acquired through endorsements, personal purchases, gifts, not related to criminal acts of corruption and there was an agreement to separate assets before the marriage. This objection hearing entered the evidence agenda last Friday (17/10) by presenting experts. “The hearing is led by the chairman of the panel, Rios Rahmanto. The hearing is still on the evidence agenda, the final hearing of expert investigation. Whether the objection request will be granted or not is up to the panel of judges to judge,” he said. FYI, Harvey Moeis was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the tin management corruption case that cost the state IDR 300 trillion. The judge also awarded Harvey Rp. 420 billion in compensation. The judge also ruled that Harvey’s assets be forfeited to the state. Besides the assets in Harvey’s name, Sandra Dewi’s assets were also seized. These assets include birthday gifts, jewelry and luxury bags from various brands. (haf/haf)
