Jaipur: Statues are damaged in the Shiva Temple, tension in local people

Jaipur, April 12 (IANS). Several idols were damaged in a Shiva temple in the Lal Kothi area in Jaipur on Saturday. After this incident, tensions and resentment spread to the locals. There was a stir in the temple near the vegetable market on the Sahakar Marg when the devoted saw the broken idols and informed the police. According to the preliminary investigation, an unknown person allegedly entered the temple site on Friday night and damaged three to four idols, including the idol of Nandi. However, the idol of Nandi is still there, but it is also broken. Eyewitnesses said that everything in the temple was correct until late Friday night and that the damage in the temple was detected during the Saturday morning prayer. Once the news that the idols have been damaged broke out anger among the locals. After the incident came to light, the devoted and the shop owners gathered in the temple and acted quickly by police. As a protest march, stores were closed in the area and crowds people gathered in the temple sites and expressed their resentment and immediately arrested the culprits. Aditya Punia, Assistant Police Commissioner of Malviya Nagar, confirmed that this act was done by an unknown person under the guise of darkness. “We look at CCTV footage of nearby cameras to identify the suspect.
