The corruption case of the Hajj quota The alleged case of corruption in the Hajj quota in 2024 rose to the investigation phase, but the KPK has not yet mentioned a suspect. The KPK has investigated a number of parties, including former religious minister Yaqut Cholil Qouumas. The case began when Indonesia received an additional Hajj quota of 20 thousand. Then there is a section of additional Hajj quota until 50:50 for ordinary Hajj and special Hajj. In fact, according to law, the special Hajj quota is 8 percent of the total national quota. The KPK suspects that the Hajj Travel Association that heard information about the additional quota that made more contact with the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) to discuss the issue of the distribution of the HAJJ quota. Based on temporary calculations, the state losses caused by this case reached more than RP 1 trillion. The loss arises as a result of changes in the number of ordinary Hajj quota to special. The latest KPK believes that there is a storage to accommodate the money from the corruption. The KPK is still looking for the storage of the money. The KPK also revealed that there were individuals from the Ministry of Religion who presented to the special Hajj quota journey that could leave immediately in the same year. The condition is to pay for ‘acceleration money’. (IAL/LIR)
