Bamsoet appreciates the launch of a book about Eros Djarot’s journey

Jakarta – Member of Commission III DPR RI as well as chairman of the 15th MPR RI and vice chairman of the Golkar Party, Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) appreciated the launch of the books ‘Autobiography of Eros Djarot’ and ‘What Friends Say’ which summarize the long journey of a figure about the Djarot. According to him, he is an artist, director, journalist and activist who never stops speaking out for the truth. “Eros Djarot is a representation of the courage to think freely in the midst of political and cultural pressure that often stifles creativity. He is the steadfastness of an individual who rejects the dichotomy between art and politics, between idealism and reality,” says Bamsoet in his statement, Monday (20/10/2025). He conveyed this after attending the launch of the book ‘Autobiography of Eros Djarot and What Sababat Says’ in Jakarta on Sunday (19/10). PAGE TO CONTINUE CONTENT Chairman of the 20th DPR RI and chairman of Commission III of the 7th DPR RI assesses that Eros’ main strength is its ability to bridge various worlds, from art, politics, culture and business, without losing its authenticity. Eros can adapt to the times, but does not dissolve. In music, film and media, his footprints are always consistent and raise public awareness. Eros is an artist who makes creativity a form of social responsibility. In a political situation that often changes, a consistent attitude like that of Eros is something that is rarely found. “Eros not only criticizes, but offers ideas. In a time when many people have lost their moral direction, a figure like Eros is a compass that guides them,” said Bamsoet. The Deputy General Chairman of the Indonesian KADIN and Deputy General Chairman/Head of the FKPPI State Defense Agency explained that the presence of the book “Eros Djarot’s Autobiography” is very important for Indonesia’s young generation who are now growing up in an instant digital culture. The millennial generation must learn from the figure of Eros that true creativity is born from courage to think and sincerity in work. Not to pursue popularity, but to prioritize depth of meaning. “Eros’ greatest legacy is not only monumental works, but moral and intellectual example. Eros refused to be a mere ‘entertainer’. He chose to be a warrior who used art as a weapon. In an era that often reveals falsehood, such sincerity and courage is a refreshing oasis,” Bamsoet concluded. For information, present at this event were among others Guntur Soekarnoputra, Guruh Soekarnoputra, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Legislative Assembly Bambang Wuryanto, Marshal TNI (Ret.) Djoko Suyanto, Aburizal Bakrie, Ganjar Pranowo, Jaya Suprana, Theo L Sambuna, Theo Wenas, Bambang Harimurti, Slamet Rahardjo, Abraham Samad and other political figures and cultural figures.
