Banana price: Banana will be expensive on Chhath, farmers suffer huge losses due to waterlogging and natural calamities – banana price hike puja to see expensive bananas due to crop damage

Jagran Correspondent, Bidupur. On hearing the name of Hajipur, only one name immediately comes to mind, Banana. Be it Malbhog or Chiniya or Al Paan of this region, all have their own taste and characteristics. The economic condition of the farmers of this area mainly depends on banana plantation. Banana plantation plays a very important role in improving the economic and social condition of the farmers through the harvest. But from time to time, due to natural disasters, the producers of this crop are financially ruined. Because the government does not include the banana crop in crop insurance, the farmers of this area have to suffer huge financial losses every year. Especially the bananas of Malbhog and Chiniya varieties have almost become extinct from this area. Banana crops in hundreds of hectares of land have been destroyed and it is estimated that there will be a shortage of banana seeds during the Chhath festival. Due to incessant rains for months, due to waterlogging in the banana plantations for months, banana plants, especially of the Alpan variety, are falling in hundreds of hectares of land in places like Chechar, Qutubpur, Madhurapur, Mathura, Gokula etc., due to which banana producing farmers are facing huge financial loss. An estimate is an estimate. At present thousands of villages of Saidpur Ganesh, Kanchanpur, Panapur Dharampur, Rajasan, Pakoli, Bhairopur, Mile Pakdi, Daudnagar, Khilwat, Bidupur, Ramdauli, Amer, Vishanpur, Rajkhand, Sheetalpur, Kamalpur, Madhurapur, Navanagar, Chechar, Gokhula, Mathura, Majlishpur, Kuttupur, Maniyarpur, etc. of Bidupur Block. Banana crop thrives in hectares of land. Banana crop is widely cultivated in the villages of Sahadullahpur, Karnapura, Bakarpur, Madaripur, Chandra Lay, Harauli, Astipur, Dumri, Tersia, Sarai Pur, Diwan Tok etc. of Raghopur Block of Hajipur Block. Currently, banana growers are facing very serious problems. Increases in the production costs of the crop, outbreaks of insect diseases and market problems gradually forced the farmers to turn away from this farming. Banana cultivation is a loss-making business. Currently, banana plants are rotting and falling due to waterlogging in the fields due to continuous rains, due to which banana shortages are expected in the future. Even after the natural disaster, the government does not provide any form of financial assistance to the banana-producing farmers, due to which the farmers turn away from farming by considering banana cultivation as a loss-making transaction. No banana pulping plants have been set up by the government in this area, nor any industries to make chips and other materials. While a banana research center has been established in Hariharpur of Hajipur block. Various types of items are produced from banana fiber, but the technology is not widely distributed. Banana will be expensive on Chhath. It is necessary to establish fruit manufacturing industry in Hajipur. Bhairopur Deodhi resident co-sarpanch Vinod Kumar Singh, Chechar resident Chandrabhushan Singh, Bidupur Dih resident Shatrughan Rai, Mathura resident Pramod Rai, Gokula resident Dheeraj Yadav, Ramdauli resident Ritesh Kumar Singh, BJP state working committee member, Kamalpur Resident Ram Kumar Singh, Manns Singh Advocate Deenbandhu Singh, Vishanpur Rajkhand Resident Abhay Singh, Madhurapur Resident Tinkaj Kumar. Singh, advocate Gajendra Bhagat, resident of Bajitpur Saidat, etc. demanded the government to include banana crop in crop insurance. Chhath festival is expected to be celebrated only on bananas coming from other states. At present, bananas are sold at Rs 400 to Rs 700 per bundle. Due to waterlogging, the banana crop suffered greatly. Buying bananas is expensive for Chhath devotees.
