Dhaka, September 21 (IANS). The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Sunday made serious accusations of Radical Islamic Party James-E-Islami to influence the country’s politics and try to spread chaos in universities. During a discussion in the ‘Ethnic Press Club’, Dhaka Tribune made several allegations of the senior joint general secretary of BNP, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. He said: “Or the Vice President of the Dhaka University Central Students Union got the magistrate’s law to decide which shop is valid and which illegal, he fined 3000 Taka (Bangladeshi Taka) in a store and deposited the money in Betul Mall (Party Fund). The BNP leader said it is the administration’s duty to watch the operating stores or markets within any university, and if the peaceful and systematic environment of the campus deteriorates, student leaders can raise their voice. The GNP leader, who accuses him of working as an autonomous unit, further said: ‘But instead you are paying off and that money is going to James Party Fund. This is a very serious matter. We have always seen their activities build ‘state vidin states’, and now we are watching the same atmosphere. Rizvi also criticized the student branch of James, Islamic student camp, to provide iron beds in the university hall and questioned whether this responsibility should be from a political party or the student association. The BNP leader said: “If there is a question from the students, they must negotiate with the vice -chancellor. If there is a lack of housing, bed or other facilities, it is the administration’s duty to remove it.” He added: “It is very strange. It weakens the legal basis of the state and is at the right functioning of the university. Do you offer an orphanage that offers your iron beds? Do you also offer food tables for food? He regretted that the media did not highlight the crimes of the Jamaate leaders and activists, while the allegations against BNP were widely reported. Rizvi also claimed that media and social media often accused BNP of extortion, sand lifting or stone theft, while Jamaat is never involved in crimes such as sexual harassment of leaders or women’s misconduct. The current situation of Bangladesh is not good. It is clear that the parties who previously supported the democratically elected government of the Awami League led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, along with the interim chief adviser of the country, Muhammad Yunus, is now facing each other. -Ians kr/
