Dhaka, June 24 (IANS). The International Crime Tribunal (ICT) in Bangladesh has ordered the crimes against humanity against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Secretary, Asadujman Khan Kamal and former Police Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chaudhary Abdullah Al -Mamon of July 1, MD Golam Murtuja Majumdar was adjusted. During the hearing, the accused Abdullah al-Mamoon was produced in court, while special attention was paid to the absence of Sheikh Hasina and Asdujman Khan Kamal. Earlier on June 17, the ICT published notices in two major newspapers in Bangladesh and surrendered Sheikh Hasina and Asdujman Khan Kamal on June 24. According to the notice, “International Crime (Tribunal-1) rules of procedures 2010 (amended) are ordered in terms of section 31 of 2025 to surrender to the tribunal on June 24. Otherwise the case will be executed under his absence under section 10A of the 1973 Act of 1973.” On June 1, the three are accused of serious crimes such as murder, attempt to murder, torture and use deadly weapons through the prosecution. The court also issued an arrest order against Sheikh Hasina and Asdujman Khan Kamal, who took note of the allegations. Abdullah al-Mamoon was arrested on the same day. Sheikh Hasina’s Party Awami League strongly condemned these actions launched by the tribunal. The party described it as a ‘show hearing’ (false lawsuit) allegedly led by Mohammad Yunus under the guidance of ‘non-election and undemocratic’ government. The party questioned the fairness of the case and regarded all the allegations as unfounded as unfounded.
