BBF is a link that connects batik craftsmen with the industry. This event is a symbol of the spirit of cooperation to elevate Banyuwangi literature to the national stage,” he said in a written statement, Sunday (19/10/2025). Every year, the Banyuwangi Batik Festival is held with the theme of local batik motifs as an effort to continue to preserve ancient regional motifs. This time it uses the ‘wader kesit’ motif. Wader is a type of fish that is often found in rivers. This motif has the philosophy of Banyuwangi residents who are adaptable to face the dynamics of life and have the courage to face challenges. Previously, since it was held in 2013, BBF has raised various local batik motifs such as Gajah Oling, Kangkung Setingkes, Kopi Pecah, Sembruk Cacing, Paras Gempal, Gedhekan, Jenon and others. “We also want to thank the Jember OJK office for BBF’s cooperation with Financial Inclusion Month (BIK) to strengthen financial literacy in the Banyuwangi Batik industry,” Ipuk added. Additionally, dozens of ‘Wader Kesit’ batik clothing designs looked stunning that evening in elegant to ‘sporty’ wear. The clothes are designed ‘ready to wear’ in a neat and high quality manner with a variety of fabric colors ranging from earth tones such as cream, light brown, terracotta to bright colors such as blue, red, yellow and orange. One of the Batik actors who participated in BBF was Samsudin from IKM Batik Banjarwangi. According to him, BBF is an important part in the development of the batik business and makes the Banyuwangi batik industry ecosystem sustainable. “The BBF event held every year allows the batik industry to continue to grow from upstream to downstream. From production to marketing, it remains enthusiastic,” he said. From the production aspect, BBF is a forum for batik manufacturers to continue to improve the quality of batik cloth and the clothes they produce. As well as a way to market products that generate significant turnover. Siti Romelah of IKM Batik My Isoen has been a participant since 2013. The BBF event has proven to be a successful promotion and conservation event for Banyuwangi’s batik motifs. “There are about 60 Banyuwangi batik motifs that maybe not all the public know about. BBF is a way to introduce them. Every motif featured in BBF proves successful to become a trends for Banyuwangi batik motifs that are highly sought after every year,” he said. For information, previously the Banyuwangi Batik Festival Fashion Show and OJK Financial Inclusion Month were also combined with various activities from 17-18 September 2025. (prf/ega)
