Samvad Sutra, Goreyakothi (Siwan). After the establishment of Basantpur Nagar Panchayat, people became hopeful that they would now be properly cared for their basic facilities and that they would get many facilities. This happened in some cases. But there are many reasons why the people of Nagar Panchayat still feel cheated. Garbage is collected in 11 wards of Basantpur Nagar Panchayat every morning, but it is collected near the Malamaliya channel bridge on the border of Bhagwanpur Hate -block. It is said that three-four tractors collect garbage every day. Since there is no garbage disposal facility, it is collected near the Malamaliya channel bridge. Garbage collection costs about Rs 25,000 per day. People who go through the route should cover their noses with clothes to avoid the foul smell of garbage. Apart from this, the biggest problem of Nagar Panchayat is related to water logging. There is always a situation of weakening in places such as the police station, the road that goes to the Ramjanaki Temple, Basantpur-Maharajganj road, etc. For this, drainage is done by tanker by pipes. The most pathetic situation is in the area of Ward 5 behind the central bank branch. During heavy rainfall, two to three feet of water collects for many years. Dozens of people are affected by this. People also become vulnerable to disease due to stagnant water for long periods. The people of the ward say that the Nagar Panchayat must somehow make arrangements for drainage. Until the passage is done, there must be arrangements for spraying essential medicines and manure. With this, people will consider themselves safe to some extent. Roads and drains were also built in many places in the Nagar Panchayat area and the work is underway. But it is insufficient in the eyes of people.
