New York, October 13 (IANS). US President Donald Trump has stated that “the war is over now.” He then left for Egypt, where an international conference on the peace process will be held in Gaza on Monday. This conference is arranged to end the conflict that has been underway for two years. It is considered the first major peace initiative in Trump’s second term. By printing both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas, he received a 20 -point peace agreement. Before heading to Sharm El-Sheikh to the summit, he will first stop in Israel, where he is expected to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and address the country’s parliament, the Knesset. Hamas promised to release the remaining Israeli hostages after a ceasefire came into effect in Gaza on Friday. This process is expected to be completed on Monday of the Red Cross. The conflict began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel from Gaza. About 1,200 people were killed and 251 people were taken hostage in this attack. In response, Israel also launched fierce attacks, in which approximately 67,000 Palestinians have died so far according to Gaza officials. Trump’s 20 -point peace proposal was mediated by Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, while many officials, including Jared Kushner, were involved from the US side. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, president of the Palestinian authority, Mahmoud Abbas, Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Asker and the United Arab leaders are expected to attend. Kirti Vardhan Singh will represent India. Trump said people on both sides of Gaza and Israel are satisfied with this agreement. “This is the first time that both sides have celebrated,” he said. The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelati, also expressed confidence in the peace agreement. In the next phase of the agreement, Hamas will have to give up his weapons. According to Trump’s plan, a Peace Council under the chairmanship of him would oversee the stabilization and reconstruction of Gaza. According to the United Nations, 80 percent of Gaza was destroyed in Israeli attacks. This reconstruction is performed by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. According to the agreement, Hamas will no longer play a role in Gaza’s management. Instead, a group would be “qualified Palestinians and international experts” in charge. “The first thing is to meet the needs of the people, and that the work will start immediately,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. According to the United Nations, Israel has allowed assistance supplies to enter Gaza, and several trucks carrying food, medicine and tents have now reached Gaza. –Is like/
