The Bengaluru City Police have carried out attacks in various pubs and restaurants in the Western zone of the city and discovered numerous offenses, including the ‘provocative’ clothing of female staff and violations of health, excise and other regulations, reported Ani. The attacks were carried out after the Bengaluru police commissioner received details on illegal activities at certain institutions, the report states, citing a statement. The bars and restaurants are located under the jurisdiction of Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park and Ashoknagar police stations, where 11 special police teams were established to conduct the investigation. What were the offenses? Police found that 19 pubs and restaurants violated the regulations by hiring female workers in a ‘provocative’ dress that stood too close to the customer tables in an ‘immoral’ way. Other offenses include the absence of designated female security personnel, poor cleanliness in the kitchen, a lack of proper smoking area and these places that work outside of allowed hours. Meanwhile, customers have been found immediately fined Cotpa (cigarettes and other tobacco products law). Reports were sent to the various police stations for additional legal measures against the owners of the pubs and restaurants. Furthermore, police also found offenses related to the health and excise departments. The relevant departments were notified of the offenses and were asked to act.
