'Agreement on mutual visa discounts between China and Uzbekistan' officially effective

Beijing, June 1 (IANS). On the morning of June 1 at 7.1 o’clock, and from the capital Tashkent, CZ 6030, of the Chinese, Urumchhi, the Urumchhi Thyenshan International Airport took off fluently and became the first flight of the country to gain visa -free direct access to Uzbekistan after the agreement. The Urumchhi Theshan International Airport currently has three routes to Tashkent, Firgana and Samarkand in Uzbekistan, with about 18 passenger flights per week. According to data from the Shinchyang Urumchhi border inspection station of China, the number of flights and passengers from Central Asia has recently increased significantly. Since the beginning of this year, more than 44,000 people have traveled between China and Uzbekistan, which is a 52 percent increase compared to the previous year. Among them are more than 11,000 Uzbekistan passengers, which increases 38 percent compared to last year, mainly for tourism and business. This year, on the first day of the Dragon Boat Festival, the number of passengers entering the Urumchhi Theshan International Airport and going to more than 3,000 increased, with a 98 percent increase over last year. The implementation of mutual visa discount policy between China and Uzbekistan will provide the exchange of staff between the two countries very comfortably, will effectively boost bilateral economic and business collaboration, tourism and cultural exchange and can apply new vitality in the joint construction of ‘belt and path’ of high quality.
