Banten Provincial Government Ministry of Home Affairs Coordinating on the Siscing Impact of August demo
Jakarta – Banten Provincial Government (Pemprov) with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) held a coordination meeting regarding the Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas) and Siskaming. This coordination was performed given the chaos that took place during a demonstration in Serang City last August. The coordination meeting was held on Friday (12/9/2025) in the old pavilion of the Governor of Banten, Serang City. The coordination meeting was attended by Banten -Governor Andra Soni and Director General of the Local Autonomy Akmal Malik. “We from the Ministry of Home Affairs are being asked to monitor and facilitate the steps of strengthening Siskamling. There are 14 provinces in Indonesia, provinces that there was a submission of public opinions yesterday that had some conflict,” Akmal said. Akmal also said that Siskamling was performed by the community in the Banten Province. “Some of the things we see, instead, are the siscing culture in different districts/cities well rooted. Well, it can be more optimized in the future, considering that the Tramtibum Linmas Affairs are compulsory government affairs,” he said. “The governor said earlier that it was necessary to explain later whether the performance indicators were prepared and so on,” he added. Meanwhile, Banten Governor Andra Soni said they were coordinating with the use of Satlinmas. According to Andra, the existence of Satlinmas in the Regency/City was not optimized. “Well, that’s what we discussed earlier. Apparently we have not yet to maximize these roles, although practice in each region already has a tradition to perform security in the area,” he said. “Whether it is called siskam or the provision of independent security personnel as performed by housing and so on,” he continued. Andra hopes that Satlinmas can be optimized to maintain public order. “What we need to do is coordinate and optimize these satlinmas to maintain public order in the community,” he said. (AIK/WHN)
