Nagaland: State government has suspended the IAS officer due to investigation into sexual harassment

Kohima, May 22 (IANS). The Nagaland government has expelled the senior IAS officer Reni Wilfred from the service. Officials said on Thursday that various sexual complaints and spiritual harassment were initiated by women employees. A senior official said JK Alam issued a suspension order on Wednesday implementing the provisions of the Rules of the Indian Service (Discipline and Appeal), 1969. The 2015 Nagaland Cadre officer serves as a joint secretary in the Department of Finance of Wilfred Finance and Nagaland’s Investment and Development Authority (IDAN). The official said in the command of the general secretary that the Wilfred’s headquarters will be the Department of Staff and Administrative Reforms at the Civil Secretariat of Nagaland at Kohima during the suspension period. Earlier on March 17, Nagaland State Women’s Commission (NSCW) filed a formal complaint against the IAS officer in front of the director -general of police Roopin Sharma. Women’s employees have accused Wilfred of raising salary and sex instead of jobs. However, Wilfred denied all the allegations against him. Nagaland police formed a special investigative team (SIT) last month and a fir was filed by the IAS officer to investigate the allegations of sexual and spiritual harassment of various women’s employees. Before handing over a written complaint to the DGP, NSCW recorded statements from the women of the victim. After receiving a complaint from NSCW, police headquarters launched a preliminary investigation by a female officer of the Deputy Superintendent of the Police on March 25, according to the provisions of the Indian Civil Protection Code (BNSS). The influential Naga students -Union also demanded the suspension of Wilfred. The Sangh emphasized that the preservation of him in office “weakens the confidence of the public and gives a dangerous message that institutional security is more important than liability.” -Ians SCH/ABM shares this story tags
