Bhojpuri star Khesari Lal Yadav and his wife join RJD

Patna, October 16 (IANS). Adding some star power to the party’s Bihar election campaign, Bhojpuri actor Khesari Lal Yadav along with his wife Chanda Yadav joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the presence of Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday. Even before her formal induction, there was speculation in the political circles of Bihar that Chanda Yadav would contest the upcoming assembly elections. The latest developments suggest that Khesari Lal Yadav himself will contest the election on RJD ticket and not his wife. However, there is still tension over which of the two will participate in the elections. Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, welcomed the couple into the party. He repeated his election promise, saying: “We promised the public that after November 14, when we form the government, we will make a law to give a government job to one member of every household who does not have a government job. We made this promise and we will keep it.” According to party sources, Chanda Yadav’s name was found missing from the electoral roll of Bihar during the verification of her documents. A native of Dhanadih village Ekma (Chhapra), her name is registered in the electoral roll of Mumbai. As a result, RJD decided at the last minute to replace him with Khesari Lal Yadav. Although he has not yet received the party’s election symbol, he is expected to submit his nomination once it has been awarded. Speaking to reporters after joining the party, Khesari Lal Yadav said, “We have been associated with Tejashwi for a long time. We will work together and campaign across Bihar for the Grand Alliance.” Let us tell you that Khesari Lal Yadav, who has gained immense popularity in the Bhojpuri film industry, is a resident of Chapra. RJD hopes that Khesari’s wide popularity among youth and rural voters will give momentum to his campaign and attract new supporters. –IANS SCH/ABM Share this story Tags
