On the four-day festival of folk faith, Chhath, the administration has made elaborate arrangements for the devotees and Chhath devotees in various permanent and temporary ponds and parks, including the Ganga ghats of the capital Patna. In the joint briefing held at ghat number 93 on Friday, Divisional Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, DM Dr. Thyagarajan SM, SSP Karthikeya K Sharma and Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena said that Chhath is celebrated at around 550 ghats of Ganga and tributary rivers in the district. Apart from this, Chhath is also celebrated in parks and permanent and temporary ponds. Arrangements have been made for Chhath fast in about 102 ghats on the banks of Ganga and about 45 parks and 63 ponds in the Municipal Corporation area. Along with ensuring the availability of essential civic amenities, special arrangements have been made for security and disaster control at the ghats in urban areas. Preparations are proceeding apace as per the prescribed parameters for crowd management in public places which are in the final stage. To deal with the contingency of any kind of disaster, 9 teams NDRF (277 members), 9 teams SDRF (36 members), 444 divers, 323 boatmen and 149 volunteers of Civil Defense have been deployed. River patrolling will also be done. Operation of boats without permission is prohibited. Strict punitive measures will be taken against those operating boats illegally. Special arrangements have been made by the Municipal Corporation and the District Administration to provide basic amenities like toilets, urinals, taps, water tankers and other basic amenities like cleanliness, drinking water and rest to the Chhathvartis at each ghat. A total of 552 temporary toilets, 450 temporary urinals, 185 faucets, 50 water tankers, 37 hand pumps, 20 submersible cars, PVC tanks with faucets, 400 temporary changing rooms, 13 passenger sheds, 112 control rooms, 13 assistant control rooms, 13 assistant control rooms, 13 assistant control rooms, 5 02 4a, parks and 63 ponds in the Municipal Corporation area. The tower is arranged. In all the sub-divisions except the urban areas, necessary civic facilities are ensured at the holes under the supervision of the sub-divisional officers. Strong arrangements for security and disaster management The district administration has deployed special forces for crowd management and security of devotees as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of disaster management. 9 teams of NDRF (277 members), 9 teams of SDRF (36 members), 444 divers, 323 boatmen and 149 volunteers of Civil Defense will be deployed around the ghats and reservoirs. There will be special arrangements for river patrolling so that in case of any emergency relief work can be started immediately. In case of emergency, contact the nearest control room. Officials of the district administration said that the work of clearing the gates, lighting, barricading and repairing the approach road is going on too fast. Work is in the final stage in most places. Officials say that better coordination has been established between all the departments to ensure that the devotees do not face any inconvenience. Chhathvratis and devotees have been requested to follow the safety rules made by the administration, not to enter deep water and contact the nearest control room in case of any emergency. Devotees should use only safe ghats and follow the prescribed guidelines.
