Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]October 22 (ANI): Actor-poet Priya Malik, known for her role in ‘Bigg Boss 9’, had a harrowing experience on Diwali night earlier this week, when her clothes and hair caught fire while posing for photographs. The actor shared that she was saved in time by her father, who acted quickly to prevent serious injuries. Malik took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday to recount the horrifying moment that “shocked” her and her family. The Bigg Boss alum recalled that she was standing near a diya while taking pictures with her neighbors when her outfit suddenly caught fire, engulfing her “entire back from lower back to shoulders and hair bun”. She wrote: “My entire back, from lower to shoulders and hair bun, was engulfed in flames in a matter of moments due to a burning diya behind me. I was taking a photo with my neighbors, and before I knew it, I saw flames coming out of my right shoulder and realized my entire back was on fire.” “And I’m talking about engulfing flames, not just a small fire. Fortunately, my father managed to tear apart the burning clothes because that was the only way to escape the burns. But this incident deeply shocked me and our family,” she added. Priya went on to say how the incident made her realize how a “simple, careless moment” can be life-threatening, admitting that it shook her deeply. “I know we all talk about fire safety and think nothing like this could ever happen to us, but last night I realized how even a simple, careless moment could cost me my life. There is simply no way to escape fire when it creeps up on you in flames. My Dad was a hero in that moment. I’m fine. I have superficial burns on my shoulders,” wrote Priya, and back on my shoulders. Priya Malik shot to fame with ‘Bigg Boss 9’ and has since appeared in shows like ‘Nazar’, ‘Crime Patrol’ and ‘Savdhaan India’. She is also a renowned spoken word artist and poet. (ANI)
