Bihar Assembly Elections: Will the lotus bloom again on Arrah seat or will the Left win?
Patna, October 22 (IANS). Arrah Assembly seat of Bihar is one of the few seats where Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded a new candidate by canceling the ticket of its sitting MLA. BJP fielded Sanjay Singh Tiger as its candidate by canceling the ticket of sitting MLA Amarendra Pratap Singh. Amarendra Pratap Singh won the 2020 elections on a BJP ticket when he defeated CPI (ML) candidate Qayamuddin Ansari by a slim margin of 3,002 votes. This time, however, the party did not express confidence in him. On the other hand, CPI (ML) has again made Qayamuddin Ansari its candidate for the 2025 elections. If we go into the history of this seat, BJP won in the year 2020. BJP contested this election along with Nitish Kumar. However, it was a close game. Sometimes BJP candidates were seen to take the lead and sometimes CPI (ML) candidates took the lead. In the 2015 elections, Nitish Kumar broke away from the NDA and contested the elections by joining hands with RJD. RJD candidate won this seat. The BJP candidate had to face defeat. But the margin of victory and defeat was less than 1000 votes. Nitish Kumar was with the NDA in the 2010 elections. BJP won this seat. BJP also won the 2005 elections. If we look at the comparison of the last four elections, the NDA candidate has won this seat thrice. This time also the NDA is hopeful that it will be successful in vacating this seat. Total population in this assembly is 573472, of which the male population is 305776 and female population is 267696. According to the Election Commission data, the total voters are 334622, of which males are 180180, females are 154438 and 4 are third gender voters. Situated on the banks of Ganga-Son, 50 kilometers from Patna, this city is a confluence of Jain, Hindu and Islamic heritage. Ara is the perfect weekend getaway for lovers of religious peace and history. There are many ancient temples here where devotees keep coming year after year. Historians say that this seat is politically very important. At the same time, if we want to understand Bihar carefully, Ara assembly seat can be the right place. –IANS DKM/DSC Share this story Tags
