Patna, October 10 (IANS). A day after one person died and five other feared in a tragic boat accident in the Bihar Aurangabad district, Bihar’s chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep compassionate with the robbed families on Friday. He instructed officials to quickly ensure relief and compensation to the victims’ families and to strengthen rescue operations for the missing people. This tragic incident happened in Son River near Badem Village or Navinagar Block on Thursday morning. CM Nitish Kumar wrote in a post on social media platform according to the information, a boat carrying villagers to their countries in the middle of the stream. Eyewitnesses said the boat lost balance due to overload of people and the strong stream of the river. Within seconds, the boat overturned and everyone fell into the water. Although many passengers swam to safety, at least six drowned and five of them were still missing. The deceased also included 21-year-old Tamanna Parveen, daughter of Salim Ansari, a resident of Badem Village. Local divers and SDRF teams from the state disaster reached the place and started the rescue operation, which continued until Thursday night. Police and administrative officials also reached the place and coordinated the search operation. A local resident said villagers cross the Son -River daily to do farming in the Diara area or to collect feed for their animals. Such accidents occur regularly, but this time the loss is unbearable. The district administration confirmed that rescue operations are still underway to locate the missing residents.
