State Bureau, Patna. In the second phase of assembly elections, the last date for the withdrawal of nominations in 122 assembly constituencies from 20 districts was October 23, Thursday. According to the report released by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, 70 candidates withdrew their names on the last day. Now there will be a match between 1302 candidates in the second phase. It is noteworthy that nomination papers of 1372 candidates were accepted, while nomination papers of 389 candidates were canceled due to various reasons. Prominent names who withdrew their nominations on Thursday include Prakash Rai, former Member of Parliament from Chanpatia, Prakash Rai, MLA from Narkatiaganj, Rashmi Verma and many others. Among the party leaders who withdrew their names, Congress candidate Satish Kumar alias Mantan Singh withdrew his name from Warsiliganj and Taukir Alam from Pranpur assembly and BNP candidate Bindu Gulab Yadav withdrew his name from Babubarhi constituency. A total of 1761 candidates submitted nomination forms in the second phase. Voting for the second phase will be held on November 11. On the other hand, there is talk of withdrawing names of BJP rebels that Prakash and Rashmi Verma have withdrawn their names due to fear of legal action along with warning of strict action from the party.
