Bihar election: JDU's dominance on Kuchayakot scene, employment and development is the most important issues.

Patna, October 12 (IANS). The Kuchaykot meeting seat, located in the north-western part of Bihar, is an important constituency of the Gopalganj district. This seat, which falls under Gopalganj Lok Sabha, contains two large community development blocks, Kuchaikot and Manjha. Kuchaykot is mainly identified as an agricultural area. The farmers here grow crops such as paddy, wheat and sugarcane. The Gandak channel system is the life blood of agriculture in this area. Most people here depend on the farm. However, a large number of people have migrated from here in search of work. In the last few years, the rate of development in towns has accelerated due to the expansion of roads, electricity and mobile networks, but a lack of employment remains a major challenge. Kuchayakot -Checking Division was founded in 1951. However, this seat was removed after the demarcation of 1976. Thereafter it was re -reinstated in the 2008 demarcation. Since the restoration of this seat, three meeting elections have been held here (2010, 2015, 2020). Initially, in the six elections from 1952 to 1972, the congress dominated here and won four times. But since 2008, this seat has been constantly staying with JDU. A large part of the migrant workers here regard employment and development as the most important issues, while local rural voters vote on issues such as roads, irrigation and education, as well as cabinets identity. Nagina Rai is a historical name in the politics of Kuchaikot. He won three times in a row as an independent candidate, the candidate of the Janata party in 1969, and the congress candidate in 1972. Later he also became a minister in the government of Indira Gandhi. After Nagina Rai, Amarendra Kumar Pandey made a strong grip in this area. He won the elections in 2010, 2015 and 2020 on the JDU ticket. Brahmin, Yadav and Muslim voters decide the direction of politics in the Kuchayakot meeting. Below, the Brahmin community is the most predominant, and the interesting thing is that besides Nagina rai, all the elected MAs so far from the Brahmin community. Brahmin voters are traditionally considered BJP supporters, but under the leadership of Amarendra Kumar Pandey, JDU has penetrated deeply into this class. On the other hand, Yadav and Muslim voters are considered the traditional support base of RJD in the region, leading to an interesting triangular competition in each election. According to the data from the Electoral Commission for 2024, the region has a total population of 5,64,075, which includes 2,89,850 men and 2,74,225 women. At the same time, the total number of voters is 3,31,795, of which 1,69,311 is men, 1,62,457 women and 27 are third gender voters. -—IANS PSK/ABM
