Bihar meeting elections: Tejashwi’s lakmust test again at Raghopur seat, the Lalu family’s legacy at stake.

Patna, October 15 (IANS). Leader of opposition at the Bihar meeting and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), leader Tejashwi Yadav, submitted his nomination at the Raghopur meeting on Wednesday. With this he formally announced his entry into the election field. The Raghopur Assembly constituency has long been associated with the political legacy of the Lalu family. This is the seat that two main ministers (Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi) and one Deputy Head Minister (Tejashwi Yadav) gave Bihar’s politics. Raghopur was a Yadav -dominant area and even today the voice of this community plays a crucial role here. This area falls into the Vaishali district and is part of the seat of Hajipur (Lok Sabha), while the original residence of the Lalu family is in the Saran district. Raghopur Assembly, which has existed since 1951, initially remained relatively unknown, but Lalu Prasad Yadav’s decision to dispute from the constituency in 1995 brought it into the political spotlight. For that, Lalu Yadav was twice Mla from Sonpur. The Raghopur seat has been held by the RJD since 1998, except in the 2010 election in 2010, when the party had a defeat. Lalu Prasad Yadav won from here in 1995 and 2000. Rabri Devi won the election from here twice, in the 2000 and 2005 by -election.
