Bomb explosion in Balochistan, Pakistan, three policemen dead, 16 injured

Islamabad, April 15 (IANS). A bomb blast along the way took place in the Southwest Balochistan Province in Pakistan on Tuesday. At least three policemen were killed and 16 others were injured in the incident. Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind said the incident happened near Kund Mussaors area in the Mastung district, where the police bus carrying staff from a training center in the Kalat district was targeted by improvised explosive (heied). He said all the injured were admitted to local hospitals, while people with a critical condition are sent to Quetta for advanced medical treatment. The condition of two injured is critical. According to the news agency Xinhua, Rind said that the soldiers who were targeted belonged to the Balochistan Constabular and were deployed to protect the Dharna demonstration organized by Balochistan National Party-Mengal (GNP-M). Earlier, the reports that 19 policemen were injured in the explosion. The official said the emergency was declared at Bollan Medical College Hospital and Civil Hospital Quetta for the treatment of the injured. The officials began investigating and a detailed report of the incident was sought. Balochistan chief minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack and instructed the officers to best treat the injured. He also instructed the provincial health minister, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, to personally monitor the medical process. Bugti said no negligence would be tolerated in the treatment of the injured. People involved in this heinous act will not be spared under any circumstances.
