The Madras High Court has imposed temporary stay on the use of Ilaiyaraja's songs in 'Good Bad Augli'
Mumbai, September 8 (IANS). Actor Ajit Kumar’s movie ‘Good Bad Agli’ was released some time back. There was a dispute over his songs. The Madras High Court on Monday temporarily banned the songs of composer Ilaiyaraja in the film in the film. Justice a Senthilkumar ordered the order of a case of copyright offenses filed earlier this year by Ilaiyaraja. In his petition, the composer claims that his songs “Otha Rubyum Thareen” (Nattupura Pattu, 1996), “Ilmai Ido Ido” (Sakalkala Vallavan, 1982), and a Jodi Manja Kuruvi “(Vikram, 1986) were used without their consent. Not only that, they don’t even get a royal for this. In his petition, Ilaiyaraja claimed all three songs from the film, which gave remuneration of Rs 5 crore and apologized to the producers in public. Not only that, he also demanded full details about the earnings of the film. The Supreme Court found that the answer given by the production house of the musician’s legal notice was unfounded and unsatisfactory. The production house claims in his affidavit that he took permission to use these songs, but that he could not answer it properly. In light of this, Justice Senthilkumar ruled that Ilaiyaraja is entitled to temporary ban to further orders. The use of their songs in the film will be banned until the next trial of the case. It also means that the film will not be displayed on OTT or on any other platform without editing. Now it is to see what steps the filmmakers are taking now, they give them royalty or take another side. It talks about the film and has artists like Ajit Kumar, Trisha, Sunil, Prabhu, Arjun Das and Jackie Shroff. It was led by more Ravichandran. The film ‘Good Bad Agli’ was released on April 10 this year. It earned about 100 crores at the box office. -Ians JP/DSC shares this story Tags
