Police arrested bus owner Turab Ali and driver Shaukat on Wednesday night in the tragic bus fire case that took place in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. Many people tragically died in this accident, due to which there was a wave of mourning in the whole area. Jaisalmer Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare said that two separate FIRs have been lodged in this case – one by the family members of the passengers killed in the accident and the other by the police. Initial investigation by the police found that safety standards were not followed in the bus, and the fire was probably caused by technical fault or negligence. According to SP Shivhare, interrogation of both the arrested accused is going on. It is also being investigated whether the bus was equipped with fire safety equipment or not, and whether the vehicle had a valid permit and fitness certificate. The police have indicated that a case has also been filed on the aspect of negligence, and more people may be arrested. Here, the state government has announced financial compensation to help the victims of the accident. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced that a total financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh will be given to the families who lost three or more of their relatives in this fire. At the same time, relief amount will also be provided to the families of other deceased as per the prescribed norms. “This is a heartbreaking incident. The government stands with the families of the victims. Strict action will be taken against the culprits so that such incidents are not repeated in future,” the chief minister said. After this incident, the administration ordered a safety check of all private and government buses operating in the district. The transport department has been told to check the fitness certificates, fire safety equipment and engine condition of all the buses. Local people also demanded an impartial investigation into the accident. Many eyewitnesses said that once the bus caught fire, the driver and conductor delayed to evacuate the passengers in time, due to which many people’s lives could not be saved. However, the police are still confirming all the statements. There is an atmosphere of mourning among the victims’ families after the accident. Villagers and social organizations requested the government to immediately provide financial assistance and rehabilitation facilities to the families of the deceased.
