Himachal Chief Minister sought a central package for the expansion of Kangra Airport
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu requested the central government to provide special financial assistance for expanding Kangra Airport. He wrote a letter to the Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjrapu Rammohan Naidu, asking to consult various issues related to the Civil Aviation Area in Himachal Pradesh, as he was discussed during his recent visit to New Delhi. He also requested to resume daily flights on the Shimla-Dharmashala-Shimla road. In a letter to Naidu, the chief minister said that the state should acquire approximately 150 hectares of land for the proposed expansion of Kangra Airport and the government began the process. He said that an award of more than Rs 1900 crore is ready and that Rs 410 crore has already been distributed. Sukhu said that since the statutory scheduled period of one year in August this year, the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation should recommend the Ministry of Finance and the Prime Minister’s office for special central assistance for the project. The chief minister also said that the India Airport Authority (AAI) should also revise the technical-economic feasibility report of the Kangra Airport compiled by M / S Vapkos Limited to determine a realistic assessment cost, as it costs a high cost. He also requested Naidu to consider other options such as AAI, Himachal Pradesh and a private partner to make a three -party agreement with a private partner. He wrote, “Kangra Airport is currently operating under Visual Flight Rules (VFR), whereby the minimum visibility must be 5 km for flight operation. To ensure that the flights are in the event of low visibility, the minimum visibility criteria must be reduced from the current 5 km to 2.5 km.” The chief minister said that Kangra Airport is the largest and busiest airport in Himachal Pradesh, so it must be equipped with Naglands landing facilities. He demanded that police staff be demanded from the Himachal police instead of CISF to protect the airport at Kullu and Shimla airports on the lines of Kangra Airport. He also urged the Union Minister to expand the oversight time from 13:00 to 16:00 for flight surgery at Shimla Airport to get more time to operate the flights. The chief minister requested Naidu to authorize the operation of Sanjauli, Rampur, Baddi and Kangadhar Helipport by October this year. He said that to increase the air connection in the state, one additional helicopes in Jaskot of HamirPur are approved under RCS Uda-phase-2, Dehra and Una and Bilaspur districts of Kangra. He said air operators such as Messrs Heritage Aviation, Messrs Global Wctara and Messrs. Pawan Hans Limited will be instructed to operate flights on their routes under RCS Udaan Charan-2.
