Cash and drugs worth more than Rs 246 crore were seized on Bihar election

Patna, October 13 (IANS). With the implementation of the model code of conduct in the light of the Bihar meetings elections, state maintenance agencies strengthened the supervision and actions to limit the illegal use of money, drinks, drugs and other incentives to influence voters. According to the data released by the India Electoral Commission (ECI), the items worth Rs 246.23 Crore were seized on Bihar on Monday. This includes cash worth Rs 7.7 lakh, liquor worth Rs 130.64 lakh, narcotics worth Rs 68.6 lakh, precious metals worth Rs 20 lakh and gifts and other items worth Rs 39 Lakh. Since the implementation of the model Code of Conduct, the agencies have seized a total of Rs 78 lakh in cash, liquor worth Rs 1,201,1 lakh, narcotics worth Rs 442 lakh, precious metals worth Rs 278.80 crore and free gifts and other items worth Rs 514,1 Lakh. To ensure a free, fair and transparent election process, a joint operation is performed by the district administration, police, excise division, income tax division, Narcotics Control Bureau, Customs and Chief Minister Flying Squad teams. To maintain peace and order in the state is strictly acted against anti-social and disruptive elements. So far, 2,60,211 preventative effects have been performed and 556 persons held under the National Security Act, Narcotic Medicine and Psychotropic Substances Act, Certification Authorities Controller and other relevant acts. The head election officer, Patna, has instructed all district officials to increase supervision, increase coordination between agencies and to act quickly.
