Chairman of the DPD RI asked BGN to reduce the number of MBG recipients in each sppg

Jakarta – Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin asked the National Nutrition Agency as the organizer of the free nutritious eating program (MBG) to reduce the number of MBG recipients in each nutrition (SPP) unit. The reason is that the last few days have been a number of incidents in food poisoning in MBG in different areas, including Bengkulu, Garut, Lamongan to Bau Bau, Banggai Islands and Cup City. According to him, the massive appearance of MBG poisoning shows that there are important things that need to be evaluated. One is the number of recipients that achieve too many of 3,000 people in each sppg, so that it affects the process of processing food and the quality of the MBG menu. We must acknowledge that this important program has a significant impact on the regional economy economically,” Sultan said in a written statement on Thursday (18/9/2025). The DPD RI has institutionally expressed its appreciation for BGN who continued to work hard to expand the reach of MBG beneficiaries to the furthest and outer areas. The DPD fully supports the government’s priority program aimed at this noble. “So it’s impossible if the program that targets ten millions of recipients on a day avoids normal incidents like lately,” the Sultan said. However, the Sultan has conveyed several incidents for food poisoning that emerged in the realization of the MBG program, and we must investigate and evaluate together. This is a form of our concern for government programs. “The incidence of food poisoning can cause children and parents to be traumatized to consume MBG again. We do not want this good presidential program to be misunderstood and that they are causing new social problems in the region,” he said. Therefore, he said BGN should work with BPOM to equip each sppg, with one employee who has the ability to investigate food and food quality. In addition, the sultan also encouraged the participation of all related parties in the regions, such as the regional government, the police and the community to oversee and the realization of the MBG program. “It is necessary to apply total quality management in each sppg with the best manufacturing practice approach. Because materials and food processing processes can in principle as a source of energy and nutrition or exactly a double influence,” he concluded. (AKD/AKD)
