It’s all happening for Charlie Puth, who is about to be a father and release a fourth studio album, Whatever’s Cleveron March 6, 2026. It’s been about a year and a half since Taylor Swift confessed on The Tortured Poets Department that Puth should be a bigger artist, but the pop star has kept a pretty low profile. He last released an album in 2022, the aptly titled Charlieand he had a single out last year called “Hero” that came and went. In the meantime, however, hey married Brooke Sansonean old family friend, last September and is otherwise up to his usual tricks making TikToks explaining how music works. He briefly seemed to jump into the post–The Life of a Showgirl crazy by explaining what interpolation is (thank you, Professor Puth!), although whether he’s taking a side on the “Father Figure” drama remains to be seen. That cute adjunct character he seems to be embodying in his post-fuckboy, “Yup … I’m a husband” phase is on display in the video for his newest single, “Changes.”

The video has a charming PBS feel to it, with Puth grooving in an office-hours-style getup and dancing alongside Claymation instruments. The song is sort of “Late Night Talking” by way of Toto. He embodies a bit of Tom Hanks in Bigespecially when he dances on giant piano keys. In the final chorus, Sansone joins him, and the two gaze down at her stomach. Congratulations to Professor and Mrs. Kiss. The change at the heart of “Changes” is a baby. What changes a life more than that?
