Chhattisgarh: Naxalite Geeta alias Kamli Salam, with a reward of Rs 5 Lakh, surrendered in Kondagaon.
Kondagaon, October 15 (IANS). The continued campaign of security forces, DRG and police against Naxalites in Chhattisgarh had great success. Geeta alias Kamli Salaam, a female Naxalite who has a reward of Rs 5 Lakh, which is active in the Kondagaon district, surrendered to police. Geeta, who was the Taylor team commander (LBD) of the East Bastar division, submitted before the Superintendent of Police Akshay Kumar. The government of Chhattisgarh announced a reward of Rs 5 Lakh on the woman Naxalite Geeta. According to police, Geeta decided to return to the mainstream due to the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, growing differences within the organization and surrender of senior leaders. With the surrender, Geeta received an incentive amount of Rs 50,000 under “Chhattisgarh Naxalism Extension Policy”. In addition, the process is to offer other facilities under the government’s rehabilitation policy. In a large action, the security forces recently killed a naxalite that had a reward of Rs 5 Lakh in the Bijapur district. During this time, police also got a large amount of weapons of the place. Security forces received information on the presence of Naxalites in the forests of the Gampur Purangel of the Gangalur police station in Bijapur. Once the information was received, the security forces surrounded the entire area and performed a search operation. During this, Naxalites opened on STF and DRG soldiers. Once the shooting occurred, the security forces killed the Naxalite retaliation and killed with a reward of Rs 5 lakh within two hours. The slain Maoist was identified as Aaytu Podiyam, 35, a Gampur resident, who was a member of the Gangalur Area Committee.
