Raipur, October 11 (IANS). In a large action, security forces arrested six suspected Maoists in the Dantewada district of South Bastar. There is also safely an improvised explosive device (IED) planted near Manganar Road. Police officers said the operation launched on Friday reflects the attempts to eliminate the influence of Maoists in the area. Police Superintendent Gaurav Rai said five men and one woman were trying to escape from the suspects, but that he was caught. During interrogation, he acknowledged that he was associated with Maoists and that he had planted everyone’s to target police patrols. On information about suspicious persons near Manganar Road, a joint team from the police station, the District Reserve Watch (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumbhkar and Inspector Sanjay Ursa. Those arrested include Anil Alias Kachnu Salam, 30, a notorious person from Nendhu via Kondagaon. He was involved in very serious crimes. Others include Jamuna alias Jaymati Mandavi, 26, Sannu Ram Kashyap (20), Manish Kashyap (19), Hari Ram Kashyap (18) and Sularam Kashyap, 22, of Bijapur, all residents of Kahchanar under Malewahi police station of Bastar. During the operation, 0.5 kg of live pressure –ied, shovel, sword and other Maoist material were recovered. The IED is disabled by safety rules, thereby averted a major accident. A case is registered against the accused under sections 61 (2) (a), 190, 191 (2) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) and Articles 4, 5 of the Explosive Substance Act at the Barsur police station.
