Kampala (Uganda), April 11 (IANS). Three people are dead and many other hospitals are admitted by Anthrax outbreak in the north-eastern and western regions of Uganda. The country’s Ministry of Health gave this information on Friday. The ministry mentioned in a report that there were two deaths in the Buhveju district in the west of Uganda. One of the two cases is confirmed by the laboratory and the other is a suspected patient. This disease is believed to be in 11 other people in the district. Meanwhile, a 45-year-old woman, a suspected wife of anthrax, died in the north-eastern part of the country. The health authority said that the cause of death is a cow meat, which died in the village of Apatavoi three days ago and was sold raw in the chocolate community market. It is said that all the people who ate the meat, whose number was about 25, became ill with similar symptoms, although it was less severe than the deceased. According to the report by the Xinhua news agency, seven people in the western district of Kabale are suspected of anthrax. In September last year, at least three people were killed and more than 43 cases were reported after anthrax outbreak in the south-west of the Uganda district of Kanungu. The death of several animals was also recorded, including 65 cattle, 10 goats and three sheep. Massage of animals has begun in the district to prevent the spread of the disease. Since the announcement of Anthrax outbreak in the district on September 17, the sale of animals, including cattle, goats, sheep, pigs and related products, has been temporarily banned in Kanungu. Little disease is caused by a bacterium called Bacillus antrasis. It mainly affects vegetarian animals, although other mammals and some birds can also be infected. According to the World Health Organization, people regularly suffer from this disease due to exposure to infected animals or exposed to infected animal products. -Ians PSK/Ekd Share this Story Tags
