Christina Ricci about motherhood and the teaching of her daughter self -love

Washington [US]April 21 (Ani): Actress Christina Ricci opened about her journey to self -acceptance and learning to love herself above her physical appearance, and how she attracts the same lessons in her daughter, Cleo. In an interview with People Magazine During a ‘Yellowjackets’ season 3 event, Ricci shared her insights on the separation of her external appearance of her true identity. Ricci emphasized that she no longer defines beauty according to external standards. “I think what I learned was that it didn’t matter if I was beautiful or not by someone’s standards,” she said, adding, “I’m myself. I consider myself a face and a brain. I don’t think of my body. I don’t think about what other people think of me. ‘ Ricci credited her 3-year-old daughter, Cleo, to help her develop this perspective. She remembers a moment when Cleo claimed her individuality and said, ‘I’m not cute. I’m Cleo. ‘ Ricci described it as an important lesson in self -identity and shared that she was committed to cherishing a strong sense of self in her daughter. She said she prioritized to praise her daughter’s personality, intelligence and power over her physical appearance. “I’m talking about how strong she is, how hard she tries, how smart she is, how funny she is all the things to do with personality and identity,” she said in an interview with People Magazine. Ricci believes that the emphasis of society on appearance often distracts women to focus on what really matters. “The biggest trick ever played on the female race is to keep us so busy with our appearance that we can’t focus on what’s really important,” Ricci said. She also shared that she hopes to inspire women to look beyond social beauty standards and focus on their inner qualities. Ricci has previously talked about the challenges of growing up in the spotlight and the impact on her body image. According to People magazine, Ricci had earlier shared that she had developed an eating disorder during puberty and that has since made a priority to promote a healthy relationship with food and body image for her children.
