CM Himant Biswa Sarma's allegations unfounded: Debababata Saikia
Guwahati, September 11 (IANS). Congressional leader Debababata Saikia on Thursday accused the Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, of the Assam of political abuse of the sitting investigation into the alleged Pakistani relations of Congress -LP Gaurav Gogoi. Saikia addressed the media, saying that the Chief Minister ‘unfounded claims’ makes Gogoi have relations with Pakistan and even ISI. CM continued to say that Gaurav Gogoi stayed in Islamabad for 15 days without notifying Indian officials and he was in contact with ISI. Later he also claimed that Pakistan is a crime, which is absurd. Even our prime minister once went there to go to dinner with Nawaz Sharif. He further stated that despite the assurance of the chief minister, no such evidence had come out. Saikia questioned that the chief minister promised to reveal everything on September 10, but now he says he will have to study the SIT report. If he was not aware of the content of the report, how can they make such great demands earlier? Saikia has defended the wife of Gogoi, who is accused of relations with Pakistan, that she is a famous climate expert who works internationally. Collaboration with experts from Pakistan or any other country in his region cannot be called a crime. Saikia claimed that the whole controversy was raised to divert attention to the Panchayat election. He said that the BJP government did not fulfill the promises in its vision document in 2016. To hide his failures, he tried to declare the leaders of Congress Anti-National. He also criticized the SIT investigation and argued that international spying cases fall under central agencies, not the state police. Saikia said that if it was really a case of ISI and Pakistan, the NIA or the Central Intelligence Agency it should have seen. In such cases, the state police have no right. He further stated that this is another example of BJP doing “the use of government machinery against the opposition”. Saikia compared the APSC investigation report and ED cases with reference to previous examples. He said that the abuse of institutions by the BJP is a pattern. In the APSC case, a dead officer was also convicted without questioning. Ed also takes thousands of cases, but barely 5 percent is successful. This sitting is also not formed for justice, but for political goals. -Ians Ash/DSC shares this story Tags
