Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu met the chairman of the Finance Commission and demanded to raise the grant of green bonus and funds for Himachal. He also raised the issue of loss due to a lack of GST compensation. The Chief Minister made a detailed submission on the state’s financial situation and developmental needs, which assured the commission to consider. State Bureau, Shimla. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and his team have dr. Arvind Panagariya met on Friday on the second day to advocate Himachal’s interests on economic and other fronts. During the meeting, the Chief Minister and his team delivered an extensive presentation before the commission for about three hours. The presentation gave a detailed description of the state’s financial status, development requirements and challenges. During the meeting with Dr. Finance Yoga president Arvind Panagariya urged the chief minister Sukhu Himachal to give green bonus to Himachal, while strongly advocating the proper compensation as part of environmental protection. An additional memorandum was also submitted to the chair of finance by the state. Panagariya assured that the commission would consider the state’s request. Chief Advisor of Chief Minister Ram Subhag Singh, general secretary Prabodh Saxena, general secretary finance Devesh Kumar, secretary of Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar and other senior officials were also present with the main minister. He insists on raising the fund allocation for the state. He said that the mountainous states of the country are geographically facing different challenges. Therefore, they must manage their right. He said the state also demanded a green bonus for the services provided by the state to maintain environmental protection and ecosystem. Chief Minister Sukhu said that the state suffered damage due to a lack of tax on goods and services (GST) and that the state should receive proper compensation. He also said that the revenue shortage for Himachal Pradesh should be increased and not gradually abolished. Keep in mind that the GST compensation of the center for all other states of Himachal as well as the center is closed from June 2022. The state suffered a great loss due to the closure of GST compensation. Earlier, the Himachal government worked from the Center for the Economics for the economy earlier every year instead of GST compensation.
