CMG interviews the regional director of UN women

Beijing, October 12 (IANS). The World Wide Women’s Summit will be held in Beijing, the capital of China, from October 13 to 14. Prior to the summit, Christine Arbu, regional director of the UN Women program for Asia and the Pacific, who is in China for the event, provided an exclusive interview to Reporters of China Media Group. They expressed deep eagerness for the global women’s council and emphasized the importance of collective efforts of all countries to promote gender equality. According to Christine Arbu, it is undoubtedly an exciting moment for the Chinese government to present such an event, inviting leaders from all regions of the world to come together to discuss the important issue of gender equality, and it also coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of the fourth world meeting on women in Beijing. The timing is very good for the Chinese government to offer this World Summit, which will provide an opportunity for different countries to jointly explore effective measures, share successful experiences and learn from each other’s ways to overcome deficiencies. The Beijing statement and plan of action have inspired my work since 1995, so it’s also an exciting time for me. (Consenting China Media Group, Beijing)-Sanans ABM/ Share these Story Tags
