A memorandum was also recently signed with Pondicherry Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) to promote eco-percentile in Khan-1 and Khan-2 and display sustainable mining activities. With these measures taken by the Ministry of Coal under the self -sufficient India, the production of domestic raw Coke coal is likely to reach 140 million tonnes (MT) by 2030. The Coal Ministry said Coal India Limited (CIL) planned to increase the production of raw cooking coal from existing mines to 26 MT. Nine new mines have been identified with a peak rate capability (PRC) of about 22 MT against FY 2025.
