It happened the first in the history of Yemen, as the first office of “mixed marriage” was opened in Aden with European support, which sparked widespread reactions among the Yemenis, where they were crazy, as some expressed their amazement and joy in providing a specialized service for this type of issue. This opening came with the support of the European Union and in partnership with SOS, in a move described by the Deputy Minister of Justice, Dr. Saad Mohamed, as a strengthening of the institutional structure of justice in the country.

Dr. Saad Mohamed opened the office of the “Mixed Marriage” project in the General Office of the Ministry of Justice in the capital, Aden, after completing its equipment, and was discussed during the opening with representatives of the European Union, UNDP and SOS, aspects of joint cooperation and ministry priorities in developing infrastructure, qualifying the courts and improving the work environment, in a way that contributes to enhancing institutional performance.

The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of joining efforts to enhance and improve the services provided to citizens and increase the activation of the performance of the courts, noting that the “mixed marriage” project aims to organize this type of cases through specialized services that take into account the specificity of the local context.

For their part, representatives of international organizations praised the logistical support provided to the Ministry, stressing their keenness to enhance the capabilities of the ministry and facilitate the access of citizens to justice. The opening of the Ministry of Justice agents and a number of ministry leaders attended, so that this step would be the first experience of its kind in Yemen that open the way for the formal and systematic organization of mixed marriage.
