It was inevitable: an Alex Warren song has made it into a Colleen Hoover movie. Reminders of HimHoover’s third film adaptation, is on its way, and like its predecessors, it’s heavy on the romance blending with trauma. Fingers crossed this one breaks the tie for more Hoover movies with no behind-the-scenes lawsuits than with. Directed by Love at First Sight‘s Vanessa Caswill and written by Verity‘s screenwriter Lauren Levine alongside Hoover, Reminders of Him follows an ex-convict who hopes to reconnect with her daughter in her small town, following the death of her husband. Yeah, no Colleen Hoover story comes without trauma or heartache. Get used to it!

Kenna (Maika Monroe) meets Scotty (Rudy Pankow), a charming man who’s nervous to ask her out on a date. The fantasy doesn’t last long as the couple gets into a car crash, killing Scotty and putting Kenna in jail (?). Also, they had a kid together that she no longer has custody of — Scotty’s best friend Ledger, played by Tyriq Withers, does alongside Scotty’s family, and it seems like he and Kenna never met each other.

Yes, and we thank God for that. Alongside Withers and Monroe, the film stars Lauren Graham and Bradley Whitford as Scotty’s parents, as well as country star Lainey Wilson’s film debut as one of Kenna’s friends.

The newest edition to the HCU arrives on March 13, 2026.
