Gurugram: Haryana government's employee was jailed for four years for bribes

Gurugram, April 29 (IANS). The court took a strict action against corruption by the government employee, the court sentenced a patri (income officer) to four years of strict imprisonment in a corruption case by 2023. The court of additional district and sitting judge Jagdeep Singh on Monday convicted government employee Sanjay Kumar and also fined Rs 30,000. Sanjay, which was placed in the Hararyana Urban Development Authority office, was handed over by the Anti -Corruption Bureau (ACB) in February 2023. An ACB official said Patwari was accused of demanding bribes to present the report regarding the interest received by the complainant in the country obtained. The accused failed to give any evidence in his favor. Haryana’s chief minister Naib Singh Sainin said that the government has been implementing a zero tolerance for corruption in all departments across the state over the past ten years. The CM also claimed that if an employee of the government is involved in any illegal activity will be strictly done against him. The ACB received a complaint on February 6, 2023 claiming that Sanjay was looking for bribes to offer a record related to the payment in land acquisition. On the same day, a case was registered under section 7 of the Corruption Prevention Act with the ACB Gurugram police station. The ACB filed a charge sheet with the court in March 2023. After two years of trial, the court convicted Sanjay and sentenced him on the basis of the ACB investigation and the complainant’s statement. Meanwhile, another income officer Nararsh was arrested last month by Sohna Tehsil police. Police have accused Naresh of tampering with land documents and preparing false documents.
