Chief Minister Yogi checked the works of the Department of Irrigation and Water Sources, gave the necessary guidelines

Lucknow, May 17 (IANS). Yogi Adityanath, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, held a review meeting of the Department of Irrigation and Water Sources on Friday. He ordered that all flood rescue programs be completed before June 15, so that preparations before a possible natural disaster can be secured. He said that Uttar Pradesh is in front of other countries of the country in the field of flood plane zoning. The flood rescue action plan must be completed on time. Chief Minister Yogi said that 1,665 flood projects have been completed in the state in the past eight years, providing security to 40.72 lakh hectare and benefiting a population of 319.14 lakhs. Each project must be completed in a quality and time -bound manner, so that the effects of floods during the monsoon can be minimized. The CM also said that river is dragging and channeling is the most effective solution in the long -term strategy of flood rescue. Turner projects of 60 rivers were completed between 2018 and 2025, relieving 4.07 lakh hectares of agricultural land and more than 23 lakh population. CM Yogi expressed the need to run the River Revival campaign on a war foot. He ordered that irrigation, income, Namami corridors and Urban Development Department should revive the endangered rivers by forming mutual coordination. He clearly said that cleaning the polluted rivers is the priority of the state and that no industrial waste should be allowed to go to the rivers. CM Yogi ordered that Namami corridors and Irrigation Department jointly perform the program of cleaning, channeling and typing of drains. He specifically referred to Kashi’s Varuna and Eighty Rivers and said that he has historical importance and must be revived. He ordered the river front to be built on the Varuna River and that the water should be used for irrigation by checking reservoir and dams. The chief minister said the revival of Assi River should also be started soon. All the reserves present in the state must be done on time and a plan to make new reserves must be prepared. On the lines of the Shukratal -Pilgrimage in Muzaffar Nagar, the plan to bring the stream of Ganga in Vidur Kuti must also be done quickly. He said that 1,129 irrigation projects have been completed over the past eight years, which erected irrigation facility in an area of ​​50,19,640 hectares and 2,16,88,493 farmers. He said that the assistant projects of Saryu Canal, Bansagar and Arjun are now completed, and in the mission mode, work must be done to deliver water to the farmers’ fields. The chief minister said it should be noted that the annadata should have no shortage of water availability for irrigation. He said that the state government views disasters such as floods and drought, not just a natural disaster, but a challenge to prevent it from being administrative readiness.
