Preparations for Bihar meeting elections quickly, prefer election commissioner Vivek Joshi
Patna, May 16 (IANS). Election Commissioner of India Vivek Joshi chaired a high -level meeting in Patna on Friday to review the preparations for the upcoming election in the Bihar meeting. The meeting was attended by Bihar’s chief election officer, Vinod Singh Gunjial, State Police Nodale Officer Krishnan, District Magistrate of Patna and district election officer Chandrashekhar Singh, senior superintendent of Patna and other senior officials were present. During the meeting, election preparations for the Patna district, legislation and order and voting infrastructure in particular gave a detailed presentation. Dr Joshi emphasized its importance of holding independent, fair, inclusive and peaceful elections with the maximum participation of voters. During the meeting, the authorities informed about compliance with the model, special brief review of the voters list, systematic voter education and election partnership, legal and order situation, polling stations, access to disabled and senior citizens and initiatives in the grievance correction system. The Electoral Commissioner expressed concern about the low rate of registration of the voters of the youth. The estimated number of youth in the 18-19 age group in Bihar is about 64 lakhs, while only 8,08,857 are currently registered. He instructed officials to strengthen the efforts to increase youth registration. He emphasized that Bihar’s average voting percentage in the last Lok Sabha election was 56.28 percent, which was far less than the national average of 66.10 percent. He asked that a strategy be made at a subtle level to increase the mood. Bihar election officer said the total number of voters is about 7.80 crores, including 7,69,046 disabled voters and 5,91,347 elderly voters (over 85 years). There are a total of 77,895 polling stations. Joshi emphasized the need to ensure the necessary facilities at all polling stations and to emphasize especially emphasized participation in the disabled and the elderly. He is also expected to visit Motihari, East Champaran, and review the election preparations in Bettiah (West Champaran). On Sunday, he will meet SSB officials in Valmiki Nagar and visit the area and revise the grassroots preparations in Vaishali on Monday. The purpose of these inspections is to evaluate the overall preparation of voter facilities, security, training programs and election machinery at ground level.
